Abstract Self-healing consists of closing cracks and recovering the watertight properties of cement-based materials and can occur by hydration of the materials of the mixture (autogenous) or by materials added to the mixture for this purpose (autonomous). This study consists of the use of stimulated self-healing as a way of mitigating sulfate attack (sodium and magnesium), with the evaluation of the influence of crystalline admixture in this process. For that, cycles of sulfate attack and self-healing (by wetting and drying cycles in water) were performed, aiming to evaluate the behavior of mortars with three types of cement: Portland, supersulfated, and alkali-activated. The results showed that self-healing was not sufficient to close cracks due to sulfate attack. This behavior was associated with the hypothesis that the high calcium content of the crystalline admixture reacted with the sulfates and formed expansive products, increasing the attack rate.

Resumo A autocicatrização consiste no fechamento de fissuras e recuperação da estanqueidade dos materiais à base de cimento e pode ocorrer por hidratação dos materiais da mistura (autógena) ou por materiais adicionados à mistura para esse fim (autônoma). Este estudo consiste na utilização de autocicatrização autógena estimulada como forma de atenuar o ataque por sulfatos (sódio e magnésio), com a avaliação da influência de adição cristalizante neste processo. Para isso, foram realizados ciclos de ataque sulfatado e autocicatrização (ciclos de molhagem e secagem), com o objetivo de avaliar o comportamento de argamassas com três tipos de cimento: Portland, supersulfatado e álcali ativado. Os resultados mostraram que a autocicatrização não foi suficiente para fechar trincas devido ao ataque por sulfatos. Esse comportamento foi associado à hipótese de que o alto teor de cálcio da adição cristalizante reagiu com os sulfatos e formou produtos expansivos, aumentando a taxa de ataque.

ABSTRACT Due to the environmental problem related to the deposition of residues from the production of mineral coal in Brazil, the objective of this study was to use the residue of mineral coal in the production of mortar as a mineral addition and also as a substitute for Portland cement. For analysis of the physical-mechanical properties of mortars, 5x10 cm specimens were used. Starting from a mortar trace without addition of residue, called reference, to later be used the contents of 10 and 15% for addition, and 20 and 30% for substitution of Portland cement with mineral coal residue. The mortar samples underwent a curing process in a humid chamber and, at 28 days, density tests in the hardened state, water absorption by capillarity, compressive strength and X-ray diffractometry were performed. The results obtained indicated that the mineral coal waste increased the water absorption of mortar by 67% and 100% for the addition of 10 and 15% of coal, respectively. To replace 20 and 30%, the increases in absorption were 133% and 33%, respectively. The mechanical resistance, on the other hand, showed a reduction, for addition of 10 and 15%, of 33% and 42%, respectively. For the replacement of cement by 20 and 30%, a reduction in strength of 35% and 47% was observed.

RESUMO Devido à problemática ambiental relacionada à deposição de resíduos provenientes da produção de carvão mineral no Brasil, o objetivo deste estudo foi utilizar o resíduo do carvão mineral na produção de argamassas como adição mineral e também como substituição ao cimento Portland. Para análise das propriedades físico-mecânicas das argamassas foram utilizados corpos de prova de 5x10 cm. Partindo de um traço de argamassa sem adição de resíduo, denominado referência, para posteriormente serem utilizados os teores de 10 e 15% para adição, e de 20 e 30% para substituição de cimento Portland por resíduo de carvão mineral. As amostras de argamassa passaram por um processo de cura em câmara úmida e, aos 28 dias, foram realizados os ensaios de densidade no estado endurecido, absorção de água por capilaridade, resistência à compressão e difratometria de raios X. Os resultados obtidos indicaram que o resíduo de carvão mineral aumentou a absorção de água das argamassas em 67% e 100% para adição de 10 e 15% de carvão, respectivamente. Para substituição de 20% o aumento na absorção foi de 150%; com substituição de 30% a absorção de água foi considerada estatisticamente igual ao traço referência. Já a resistência mecânica apresentou redução, para adição de 10 e 15%, de 33% e 42%, respectivamente. Para a substituição de cimento em 20 e 30%, foi observada redução de resistência de 35% e 47%.

RESUMO O cimento supersulfatado (CSS) se destaca por utilizar uma pequena ou quase nenhuma quantidade de clínquer (responsável pela alta liberação de CO2 na atmosfera na produção de cimento Portland - CP), e também, por apresentar boa resistência em ambientes com altas concentrações de sulfato. Neste trabalho foi verificada a variação dimensional das amostras de CSS (constituída por escória, gipsita ou fosfogesso como fonte de sulfato de cálcio), expostas à solução de sulfato de sódio, como proposto na NBR 13583 (ABNT/2014), comparando os resultados obtidos com os do CP. O ensaio de variação dimensional mostrou que a amostra de CP foi a que apresentou a maior expansão. Dentre as amostras de CSS, observou-se que a maior expansão foi observada naquela constituída por fosfogesso como fonte de sulfato de cálcio. As análises de microestrutura (DRX, DSC e MEV) identificaram etringita e gipsita como fases expansivas nas amostras de CP, que justifica a sua maior expansão dentre todas. No entanto, a maior expansão do CSS à base de fosfogesso foi atribuída ao maior tempo de formação da etringita e não à quantidade formada, mas que necessitaria de mais investigação para confirmar a hipótese.

ABSTRACT Supersulfated cement (SSC) is made with a small or almost no amount of clinker (responsible for the high release of CO2 into the atmosphere in the production of Portland cement - PC), and also for presenting good resistance in environments with high concentrations of sulfate. In this work, the length variation of the SSC samples (made from slag, gypsum or phosphogypsum as a calcium sulfate source), exposed to the sodium sulfate solution, as proposed in NBR 13583 (ABNT / 2014), comparing the results obtained with of the CP. The dimensional variation test showed that the PC sample showed the greatest expansion. Among the CSS samples, it was verified that the greatest expansion was observed in that containing phosphogypsum as a source of calcium sulfate. The microstructure analyzes (XRD, DSC and SEM) identified ettringite and gypsum as expansive phases in the PC samples, which justifies their greatest expansion among all. However, the greater expansion of SSC made with phosphogypsum was attributed to the longer time of formation of ettringite and not to the amount formed, but which would require more research.

RESUMO Uma das consequências do processo de expansão industrial é a geração de grande quantidade de resíduos. Entre todos os resíduos gerados destacam-se as embalagens de vidro, que são um dos materiais com maior tempo de decomposição presentes em aterros sanitários e outros depósitos. Dentre os diferentes tipos de embalagens de vidro que são utilizadas têm-se as garrafas long neck, que são hoje um grande problema devido ao seu descarte após a utilização. Nesse contexto, visando minimizar este problema ambiental, destaca-se o setor da construção civil, que é um excelente meio para incorporar resíduos. O objetivo deste trabalho é estudar a viabilidade de utilização de garrafas long neck moídas em substituição parcial a areia na produção de argamassa. Para tanto, foram realizados ensaios de consistência no estado fresco e de resistência à tração na flexão, resistência à compressão e absorção de água por capilaridade no estado endurecido. Os percentuais de substituição de agregado miúdo por resíduo de vidro moído foram de 10, 15, 25 e 50 % nos tempos de 7, 28, 63 e 91 dias. Como resultados, nos ensaios de resistência mecânica, obtiveram-se resistências estatisticamente iguais ou superiores ao traço referência, sendo as maiores resistências obtidas com o teor de 50 % de resíduo de vidro moído. Já no ensaio de absorção de água por capilaridade, todos os traços de argamassa apresentaram elevado coeficiente de capilaridade, sendo considerados inadequados para utilização em argamassas de revestimento.

ABSTRACT One of the consequences of the industrial expansion process is the generation of large amounts of waste. Among all the waste generated stand out the glass packaging, which is one of the materials with the longest decomposition present in landfills and other deposits. Among the different types of glass packaging that are used are the long neck bottles, which are today a major problem due to their disposal after use. In this context, in order to minimize this environmental problem, we highlight the construction sector, which is an excellent way to incorporate waste. The objective of this work is to study the viability of using long neck milled bottles to partially replace sand in the production of mortar. For this purpose, fresh consistency and flexural tensile strength, compressive strength and hardened capillary water absorption tests were performed. The percentages of replacement of fine aggregate by ground glass residue were 10, 15, 25 and 50 % at 7, 28, 63 and 91 days. As a result, in the mechanical strength tests, resistances were obtained statistically equal to or higher than the reference trait, and the highest strengths were obtained with the 50 % residue of ground glass. In the capillary water absorption test, all traces of mortar presented high coefficient of capillarity, being considered unsuitable for use in coating mortars.
